Residential Project

On a windy bluff sited above the Hudson River, a stately home is perched on a steeply sloped landscape in Upper Nyack. The dramatic and often severe elevation change at the foot of the drive and into the rear property helped drive the design concept of staggered landings. Native, full color bluestone walls hug the hillside and provide ease and circulation in the transition from entry to the rear lounge spaces. A custom, back steel fence creates interest and separation while providing an accented mudroom entry and place to house a stone sculpture piece. Native deer resistant plantings of ornamental grasses and perennials sweep around the formal entry where the gentle sound of a water garden welcome you home. The stunning structure and pattern of the Himalayan birch trees travel throughout the garden, gently indicating circulation and paths.
